Into the Rising Dawn
About
The monumental events of World War II provide the backdrop for this gripping story of courage, sacrifice, betrayal, and love in a Nazi-occupied Belgium village, when a Belgian woman shelters a wounded American pilot in a secret attic hideaway, while the Germans demand that he be turned over to them.
Into the Rising Dawn is crowded with a rich variety of characters and a riveting, fast-paced plot, which fills this mesmerizing story with the deep and rich human emotions of ordinary people. who are caught up in the strife and violence of war.
The inspiration for the plot of a new book may come from unexpected and varied sources. And that was certainly true for the novel, Into the Rising Dawn. I had just finished reading a book about a downed World War II pilot who was sheltered from the Germans by a married woman during the war in Belgium. The premise of the book was rich with historical promise, but as the pages turned the story drifted far from the gripping wartime narrative, I had hoped for, and became something altogether different and far less meaningful as it had degenerated into a somewhat graphic description of an illicit affair between the married woman and the pilot. When I closed that book I stared down at it, as I said to myself, I can write a better novel than this. The book I write will be an accurate and historically faithful novel on the same subject of sheltering a downed pilot. It will be filled with a gripping and realistic wartime plot, and will end with an unexpected twist with the pilot becoming the woman’s protector after the tragic death of her husband and the Germans are about to come for her. My novel will build toward a genuine and touching love story. The result was Into the Rising Dawn, which I am pleased to say carries a high 4.9 rating from readers. If you have not yet read this novel, I urge you to discover the joys of this book for yourself. It is a story I wrote from the heart, and I believe you will feel that on every page.
